Scarlet Slippers: Red Glitter Winged-Eye Tutorial

Red glitter on lids.

Red on the eyes is always incredibly dramatic, but when you use a red glitter, it becomes surprisingly pretty as well. I am applying two matte shadows from the Lime Crime Chinadoll palette but you can use any reddish and black shadow you have.

For the glitter, the finer cosmetic grade ones are better for the eye area, but if that's not accessible for you and you want to use regular art store glitter, find the finest you can get, and make sure to be careful when removing from the lids. (Wipe upwards, away from your lash line, not down into your eyes.)

  4. Thanks so much, guys! Glad you liked it. :)

@ I LIKE TO DRUM, I AM A: Actually, Japanese traditional makeup and Peking Opera both use red around the eyes but since we can't white out our faces daily, pairing it with black helps to keep the eye area defined!

  5. Wow, so striking. Very unique and daring, but you pull it off with aplomb.

    1. Hi, thanks! I think most people would be able to pull it off really.
It's actually not hard to wear red if you have some black around the lash line (so it doesn't look like a swollen eye, LOL).

  6. I really want to try something like this! Lime Crime had 50% off their glitter and I nabbed three (woo!), one of them "Siren" is red. Check it out it might still be on! I'm really itching to get the chinadoll palette too..I'm in love with the colours.

    1. Cool deal! Red is fun! (Although there's really no way to be "subtle" with it at all, LOL.)
