Basic Green/Black Winged Eyes

There's nothing quite as dramatic as a solid winged eye, and the good news is that it isn't actually extremely hard to do as long as you get the basics right.

This look is good for:
  • All eye shapes and any skin/hair/eye color.
I used L'oreal Infallible Shadows in Eternal Black and Permanent Kaki. (I believe this is named differently in the States. You can use any deep khaki green you have.)
You will also need black liner, and mascara.

Step 1: First line your eyes, top and bottom, with black pencil. You want to get the inner rims as well because this look is so dark that any flesh is going to show up very obviously. Don't worry about being neat.

Step 2: Lightly with your finger, smudge out the line on both upper and lower lash line.

Step 3: Pack the black shadow all over the lid area and lower lash line. Don't blend the shadow too low because it could turn into a whole different look.
Then using the same flat angled brush, mark out a line extending from the lower lashes at the same angle, until you reach approximately the end of your brow.

Step 4: Then from the outer corners, pull the black shadow in towards your socket line again, and follow the hollow all the way towards the inner corners.

Step 5: Now that you have your basic wing shape, apply green shadow all over the outer ends and the inner corners of the wing, leaving the central lid black. Don't blend out the edges too much because you want the look to be quite dramatic and defined.

Step 6:  Finish with black mascara!

At this point, you will probably want to do the rest of your makeup. Looks like this typically cause a lot of fallout, so doing your foundation and concealer after is going to save you more time.
Some people pack a thick coat of powder under their eyes and sweep it off along with fallout after doing their eye makeup, but I don't like how that can make the base under your eyes all chalky and dry.

For LIPS AND CHEEKS, I used:
  • Cheeks: NYX Pinky
  • Lips: MAC Cream Color Base in Relaxation (MAC Snob is almost identical)
Other options you can explore include a sheer gloss in any shade, nude lips, or even a full-on red mouth if you want maximum drama.
