KATE Tokyo Red Nude Rouge Swatches and Review

Click to watch the KATE Tokyo Red Nude Rouge IGTV swatch video
Here's a quick IG video showing all 8 KATE Tokyo Red Nude Rouge duos swatched to show a full gradient. Meaning you can see the full spectrum of colors achievable in each compact, depending how much of each shade you use.

You obviously aren’t supposed to wear them the way I did. You can wear them ombre or 3D style, or just mix for a single solid color. The point is to wear them as vibrant or soft as you want, depending on the look and occasion. Also, each duo comes with a little sponge applicator but I find it much quicker with a clean finger, and you also won't contaminate each color by transferring the other onto it with a stained applicator.

RMK Kaleidoscope Nuance Color 02 Translucent Coral Pink

RMK Kaleidoscope Nuance Color 02 Translucent Coral Pink
A multitasking “smart” beauty powder?
I’m there.

This powder is quite silky and creamy-feeling; like a pressed powder foundation or high-end blush more than the typical pressed or illuminating powders. Pigmentation is also similar to a pressed foundation and you get pretty good pay-off.

  • Swirl the bottom half together for a coral blush
  • Sweep across the top curve of the pan for a bronzer
  • Sweep along the central triangles for highlighting
  • Swirl all around for a luminous warm face powder

The cons?
Price: RMK is not cheap in Singapore, and this pretty powder costs $79 a pop for 7g. Definitely higher end.
Skintones: The range of skintones where all 4 usage shades will show up nicely is limited to the medium-ish.

For everyone else, usage is more limited.
If you’re very fair, the highlight isn’t light enough and it might also be a little too dark swirled all around as a face powder. As a soft bronzer and a blush though, this would be perfect as it’s not too muddy or dark, and the peachy undertones are flattering.
If you’re tanner, obviously the contouring color won’t show up well, but you can use it as a beautiful highlighter and illuminating all-over powder because the texture is not chalky and there are enough warm pigments to brighten the skin.

Kaleidoscope powders are limited edition for Spring 2014, so if you’re keen check out your local RMK counter to try it on yourself! The other illuminating powder is a lighter one with pastel blue, pink, white and beige triangles. It’s a better match as a face powder for my skintone (mac n2-3 ish) but that one can’t be used as a multitasking powder, so perhaps note worth the price-tag compared to this one.

400,000 Follower Giveaway! (4 Sets of Prizes)

When the hubby was away in Tokyo for a business trip, I got him to trawl through Japanese drugstores (painstakingly I might add) and bring me back some yummy beauty goodies so I could do a 400,000 follower giveaway.

I know these products aren’t always easy to get hold of in many countries, and the price isn’t cheap when you factor in shipping. (One Humming Book palette is SGD25.90 or 1,500JPY from the MJ site before adding shipping fees) so here's a chance to get hold of some of these!

A: Majolica Majorca Little Humming Book 1

B: Majolica Majorca Little Humming Book II (2)

Next are the new Canmake Stay-on Balm Rouges. They’re kinda like Revlon Balmstains except they have UV filters to protect the lips. (And as with most Japanese drugstore products, the packaging is darling…)

C: Canmake Stay-on Balm Rouge in 02 (Sheer Peach), 03 (Sheer Red)

D: Canmake Stay-on Balm Rouge in 01 (Sheer Pink), 04 (Sheer Nude)

INSTRUCTIONS
Whether you are on Blogger, on Instagram, on Pinterest, on Tumblr or on Facebook:
  1. Take a picture of yourself in your favorite makeup look,
  2. Hashtag #makeupbox400k
  3. List the 4 sets in order of preference (e.g. B, D, A, C) or say “no preference” if you don’t mind either way!
  4. Share your picture post with me before 15 May 2013
Instagram: @makeup_box and hashtag #makeupbox400k (otherwise I can’t be sure your image is for this contest!)
Tumblr: hashtag #makeupbox400k
Pinterest and other platforms (link your post in the comments section of this post below)

Things to Note:
  • I will pick a 1st-place to 4th-place winner based on personality, artistry, and/or humor. You don’t need a super-complicated makeup look to win this. It just needs to catch my attention! If theft or usage of someone else’s image is discovered, your entry will be disquaified.
  • I appreciate effort. Wherever possible try to do a new post (even if the picture was taken awhile ago), rather than going back to an old post and adding a hash-tag. Come on people, that’s too little effort!
  • The 1st place winner will receive the most-preferred item of her/his choice, and this means if both the 1st and 2nd place winners picked item C as their top choice, the champ will get it, and the runner-up will get her 2nd choice item. If y’all happen to pick different items as first-choice, then good for you!
  • You CAN submit multiple entries but only one one prize will be given per winner.
  • I will message winners to inform and obtain shipping addresses, so if you are using Disqus, make sure you are contactable. (You need to sign in with a valid email address when posting or I can’t reach you.) Failure to respond within 3 days (18 May) means forfeiture of the prize, and I will pick another winner to send it to!

Majolica Majorca Chapter 37: Translucent Aquatic Colors, a "Swan Feather" Pen, and a Quick Trial-run of a Cult-Favorite Fiber Mascara (in Brown)!

From this month, Shiseido will release a (somewhat oddly-named) limited edition collection called "Moonlight Virgin" in 2 parts. The first includes a "quill pencil"and a brown version of the Lash Expander Edge Meister mascara with the dual-sided comb tip. Now since me and the original Lash Expander go WAY back (I used it exclusively for about 3-4 years) I naturally grabbed the chance to find out 2 things:
  • whether the mascara was as good at building length as I remembered
  • whether the brown shade would show up (and look alright) with my dark hair and eyes

[Requested] The Gyaru Eye Tutorial: Japanese Bambi Eyes a la Tsubasa Masuwaka

The Gyaru look has been around for quite awhile, but only really took off in the rest of Asia after it was popularized by people like Tsubasa Masuwaka, to the extend that it's come to be known as the "Tsubasa look" for many people.
The typical feature of the look is an exaggeratedly droopy doll-eye shape with big lashes on top and bottom, AND the prerequisite circle lenses. The overall effect is a much larger eye than one naturally has.

This isn't a look that I would ever wear myself because my features are a little too strong for it, but if you have smaller features, mono-lids or hooded eyes, this is a look that could very well suit you, though "natural" wouldn't be how I'd describe it!
Aside from the basic eye, I'm also going to give you a couple of tips on getting that very glowy, pastel blush and the pale glossy lips.
Not suited for:
  • People with very deep sockets
  • People with very thick double lids

Love the Look of: Majolica Majorca Sugary Trap Visuals

Majolica Majorca Chapter 30: Sugary Trap
Don’t think I can wear the look, but that’s why I love it.

Do you wear pink all over, and if so how do you do it?
